The reason is simple. I get to create stuff that will help and bless others. Case in point. This Friday, my church will be doing our one day arts day VBS. We don’t quite have everything we need to do a full week of Bible school (YET!) so instead we have this one day, creative bonanza where the kids come in and make art, have fun and learn about Jesus all day. It is a lot of fun. Our theme this year is the New Creature workshop. In the morning we’ll look at what it means to be a new creature in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17) while we paint interesting creatures as a reminder. Then in the afternoon we’ll look at one of the great benefits of being a new creature in Christ, the fruit of the Spirit. Nine evidences that the spirit of the Living God is living and active in the life of every believer. I wanted to create a way to help the students learn this powerful verse. So with the help of an unknown rapper named AMOS AMOK (He might sound familiar) I made this video. It was a lot of fun and I really think it might be helpful to a lot of churches. If you’re in another church and you think this might be useful, feel free to download it and use it. I’m sure AMOS won’t mind.

The other thing I thought of when I saw that the challenge of the week at illustrationfriday.com was children was how coincidental, because I am going to be teaching children all week this week. I am finally getting the opportunity to present something I have been working on for the better part of a year. My Creation Station Vacation Bible School curriculum.

The themes for each night are:
1. God Made Everything

2. God Made You

3. God Made You Special

4. God Made You to Love You

5. God Made you to Be a New Creation

This presentation will be available for booking in Summer 2014. I’m also considering publishing it as a curriculum available for sale. This station based VBS presentation combines a high speed painting of the “animal of the night”, a story about the animal and how it relates to the theme, the above videos, an interactive art project for the students, a Bible story, craft ideas and more.

I know I have mentioned this several times before, but I am really excited about doing this and also desiring your prayers. It’s always a challenge to present something for the first time and this has a lot of components but I am so excited about it.

This video was a lot of fun to make and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I tried to figure out a way to explain salvation to young children. This is what I came up with. What do you think?

This is the final session video for the AMOKArts’ Creation Station Bible School Curriculum shows us how to be a new creation in Christ by looking at two of God’s creatures who start life out looking completely different. The latest video from my new VBS Curriculum Creation Station. This one is about God’s love. I’d love to bring Creation Station to your church in 2014. For more information contact me at AMOKArts@aol.com.

As you may know by now, I am working on a Vacation Bible School curriculum which I will be leading this summer at a local church and then, next year, I plan on taking it out to churches as the Lord allows. I call it Creation Station. It’s all about how and why God created us. The nightly themes are:

  1. God created everything!
  2. God created you!
  3. God created you special!
  4. God created you to love you!
  5. God Created you to be a new creation!

I just finished the video for the second session and here it is.

If this curriculum sounds interesting to you, I would love to bring it to your church in 2013. It was designed for smaller churches without a lot of staff or resources. Basically, I come in to your church do the opening, the closing and the teaching station each night and provide you with craft, and game ideas for your folks to lead as well as other materials, all made available digitally to cut down on publishing costs.

If you’d like to hear more about this, please contact me at amokarts@aol.com

The theme of this session of the Creation Station Vacation Bible School is God Created Everything and in it we look at one of God’s most unusual creations, the duck-billed platypus. For more on Creation Station, contact Dave Weiss.

A lot of my creative time recently has been consumed in creating pieces of art for my Creation Station Vacation Bible School curriculum. Here’s how the program came about… Some church leader friends I know have decided to give their VBS teachers a little break this year, so they’re having me come in and do the opening, closing and tag team with the pastor to do the teaching station, the teachers will be working with the students and taking them from station to station. There will be a teaching station, a snack station, a craft station and a recreation station. I’m really excited about this project. The theme of the teaching for this evening is God made you special. Each session uses a different animal (one of God’s creations) to make the point and this one uses the Zebra. The video will show you why. The opening each night will include a live painting of that animal.

How would you teach a child about his or her own “specialness”? The memory verse for this night is Ephesians 2:10. That may be a good place to start.

I plan on doing this VBS as a presentation is churches on 2014. If you would like to bring me in to teach your VBS, contact me at amokarts@aol.com.
