Great Idea, But Is It From God?

So this morning I woke up with a bunch of great ideas for of all things, editorial cartoons. They are really good ideas that appeal to my snarky wit. They would be thought provoking, probably pretty popular, at least within a segment of society and they are, as far as I am concerned, true and, dare I say, important. That being said, they would be quite controversial and could start an uproar in certain circles, which begs a question, are they from God? I mean let’s face it, Jesus didn’t often step away from controversy and He was always right, which begs a question. Is this my time to be a “voice in the wilderness?”

The truth is I don’t know. I feel like some of these things need to be said, but I also question if that’s God or just the “need” to vent my own frustration? Part of me wonders if 2 Timothy 2:23 is in effect here. You know, “Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.” On the other hand it could be that Ephesians 5:11 is in effect, “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” So the question must be asked will I be causing foolish arguments or shining a light on the foolish deeds of darkness. At this point, I’m not sure, so what should I do?

Continue to pray for discernment, while recording the ideas. Perhaps it might be best to compare the concepts to a verse like Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Bottom line, if you’re not sure if it’s God if it is just you, seek the Lord and walk in obedience. If He wants it to happen. It will happen.
