If you’re going to be an artist, you can’t be afraid to make a mess. I love watching videos of artists working online and there is one thing I see over and over again. There comes a point in nearly every creation where the artist appears to ruin his or her creation. They make a couple strokes and the thing looks awful. The thing is, it’s not awful, it’s in process. A few more strokes and the thing begins to take shape. Stick around long enough and you can see the method in the perceived madness.
Why is this important? Two reasons: First of all if you’re an artist you need to accept this and not give up in the midst of the mess, Carry it through and you will be fine and your work will be the better for it. Secondly, this is also true of your life…
See you’re not just an artist, you’re a work of art, created by the Master Artist. There will be times in this life He’s creating where it will look like things are nothing but an awful mess. Now if you made that mess, clean it up by repenting and, where possible, restitution, but if the mess is happening to you, press in and trust. The Artist knows just what He’s doing and He will make the mess into a masterpiece. Hold on and trust, because He is holding on to you. He knows what He is doing, and He is good in all things. Trust Him to turn your life into a thing of beauty.
