Limited Resources

Posted: December 10, 2021 in Uncategorized

Yes, I know that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills and that everything in the world ultimately belongs to Him, but I also know that in this world, resources are finite at least for us. So when you are trying to start something new, one of the first questions that will usually be asked is “How are we going to pay for it?” This is a good question and good stewardship demands it. So how then should we deal with limited resources? Like the good stewards we are called to be.

When you have a project you want to undertake, test it first. What can you do with what you have right now? Is there a way to launch that is less resource intensive? Is there a way start small and grow it as resources become more available? When we see obstacles before what we feel God has called us to do, it’s the perfect time to launch our God given creativity. Look for the opportunities in the obstacles. Believe it or not, boundaries are not the enemy of creativity, they merely give us the parameters in which we can create.

At one point in my life I had a grand vision for a creative arts ministry that would create programs and presentations that would be used torch people for Christ in both the creation and the presentation. This required committed believers who were also arts leaders who could minister to people as they created together. But there was a problem. I only had one of those people… ME! It could have been enough to sideline the hole project but instead I felt the Lord leading me to look at what I have rather than what I don’t. If all I have at the moment is me, what can I do? I decided to create programs I could do by myself and take them outside my church. What was the result? I started being able to sow into artists in other churches and help them see new possibilities. I decided that I could share my ideas online and resource other people, create videos people could use in their ministries and on and on. I still long for the day when that grand vision becomes a reality, but in the mean time, I am going to serve the Lord with what I have.

If we are in Christ, and He has called us, there is a way forward. We just need to press into Him and fo what we can with what we have, trusting that He will make a way to grow and expand our ministries.

Sometimes our biggest limit is our own imaginations. If you look to God you’ll realize you are more powerful than you think and He is more powerful than anyone. He is unlimited.
