Finding My Voice

Posted: September 8, 2021 in Uncategorized

I am in the process of taking on a major project and my confession is I am stuck. I’m not stuck for lack of an idea. quite the contrary, I am overloaded with ideas, which is a very good problem to have. The problem is which ideas apply to the project at hand and will the project end up saying what I want it to say? I’m trying to find my voice. In my heart, I know I’m overthinking it, but this project is of immense importance to me. I am creating a project designed to help church leaders to embrace artists and the arts and to help artists to embrace the church and find their place in it. This is a labor of love, working out what I believe to be God’s purpose in my life and ministry. From the early days of my ministry there has been one verse that seemed to underline this calling. 1 Peter 4:10 Each one should use whatever gifts he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. This is what I really want to do, to help other people to find the purpose I have found when I realized that my gifts were from God and can be used to His glory, giving meaning and purpose to this life on my way to eternity. I long for the day when creative people know they can go to the church and find a place to learn and grow and thrive in both their faith and their gifts. When it comes to my calling, this is the beat of my heart. Please pray that I can find the right words to express it, so people will hear it and grasp it for themselves.

Mark Twain (or at least it is attributed to him) once said, “The two most important days of your life are the say you are born and the day you find out why.” I’ve had both of those days now. Lord, please help me to find your way to say it so that others may find the joy, hope, peace and purpose that I have found. Help me find my voice.
