Passive Income

Posted: July 12, 2021 in Uncategorized

One of the things I have long desired to create is a way to earn some “passive income.” If you’re not familiar with the term, passive income is where you create something once and it sells multiple times. No this is not to say I am not satisfied with my income. My church is generous and my income meets my needs. It’s just there are some things I would love to do in this world that are beyond my reach at the moment. Some of them are bucket list things like taking my wife to some of the amazing places my ministry has taken me, as well as traveling to a few places we have wanted to explore together. I’d love to be able to do more for my family. I would also love to do some pretty big humanitarian/mission projects as well as just being able to better bless some of ministries I really believe in. All these are reasons to pursue some sort of passive income, but there’s more.

I’d love to be able to figure out how to make passive income work so I can teach it to others. I know so many people with so many great ideas that have so much of their time tied up in earning a living that they never get to their dreams. I know of people working in ministries where they need to raise support, and I love them and what they do, the problem with this model is, they have to spend a lot of time raising support so they can spend the rest of their time doing what they actually feel called to do. What if they could create a few products based on their passion and calling and have those products available for sale, the income from which would be their support. They then would be spending the vast majority of their working time, working in their calling and helping others to learn the skills to replicate their efforts. I can’t help but feeling this might be a better model for funding ministries. Now I just need to figure out how to do it.

Let’s face it, artists and ministers are all already professional content creators, the question is how can we get out content out to the rest of the world, this is after all our calling as Christians.

Any suggestions?
