Another side of cancel culture is it seems to eliminate at least two of the major aspects of the Christian faith, repentance and grace. How many people have been “cancelled” by something they did long ago in their past. Now their lives are transformed, they are no longer who they once were, but any skeleton in their closet any long since repented of attitude, thought or action, gets them placed on the PC unforgivable list, trashes their life’s work, and gets them labeled with something that no longer applies. Cancel culture does this regularly and self righteously.

Jesus offers forgiveness to al who will come to Him by faith. He casts our sins as far as the east is from the west.
He allows for changed lives and He changes lives. In Him we can find grace and peace. So what should we do about cancel culture from a faith basis. First, we need to pray. Jesus said. “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” We need to pray even for the people who would cancel us and strip us of our rights. Secondly, we have to be better than the culture. It does us no good to adopt their practices and use those practices against them. We need to be certain that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us, even if they don’t follow suit. Third, we need to be shining examples of love and grace. In short we need to love like Jesus and continue to be faithful to our calling, even if it gets us cancelled.

The sad truth is cancel culture will eventually destroy the culture, divide the populace and bring animosity. It’s already doing precisely that. We who love the Lord, need to love like the Lord, because only love can overcome hate.
