What’s Your Story?

From time to time, I come on here and share elements of my story and how I came to be doing what I do today. I don’t really do that to talk about myself. I do that to talk about the goodness and grace of God and how He has worked in my life. One of the best ways to share your faith is to do precisely that. Tell people how God has worked in your life. I would maintain that this is at least part of what 1 Peter 3:15 means when it says, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…” The ways we have seen God come through in our lives are a key element to sharing the Gospel. Maybe it’s how God brought you through a tough time or how He used an experience in your life to help or change you. These stories are a vital tool in showing people who Jesus is in your life, so what’s your story? Today I encourage you to write it out and/or find another way to express it.

Part of obedience to 1 Peter 3:15 as well as the Great Commission is being prepared and the best way to be prepared is to prepare. Sit down and begin to write your story. How would you express your faith to a struggling friend? Was there a time When Jesus met you in the midst of a struggle? How did you come to know the Lord? How has He used your gifts and talents? How has He made the seemingly senseless things in your life make sense? Pray and then start writing it down. One of the side effects of doing this kind of introspection is sometimes you will become aware of ways the Lord has helped/blessed you that you hadn’t even seen before.
