Accentuate the Positive

Posted: March 16, 2021 in Uncategorized

I was talking with some friends last night and one of them expressed an interest in making documentaries about the good things that are happening in the world. I thought that was a fantastic idea. Let’s face it we have a media culture in this country and probably throughout our world that seems to thrive on negativity. Watch the news and you will see the old media slogan played out, “If it bleeds, it leads.” Surely if this is what we start our days with, it sets a tone for our day and we begin in a place of negativity. What if we did things differently? What if we accentuated the positive? What if we Christians searched out the good stories and the positive things and used these creative gifts God has give us to make them known.

After all, we are called to spread the Good News, and yes I know that is specifically the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but would people be more open the Gospel if they found themselves in a place of positivity? It’s easy to find the negative stuff. There are a lot of people who profit off of negativity, so what if we became known as people with something positive to say? What if people would come to the church for hope? It makes sense that that should happen because Jesus is our ultimate hope.

How could you accentuate the positive today? Whose story needs to be told? It could be as simple as seeing an uplifting video on YouTube and helping it to go viral or as complex as making a documentary, but let’s be a positive people. And while we’re at it, remember we have been entrusted with the greatest story ever told. How can we communicate that true story to a world that truly needs some Good News. Think about it. I would love to hear about your projects.
