Turns out it was a pretty great day. I got a lot of reading and study done, finished my sermon, created a powerpoint, finished another session of my class. I didn’t give up until after 11:00 and went to bed with a serious sense of accomplishment. Maybe snow days aren’t so bad after all.
I think this is another huge thing to consider for all of us in our creative lives. There will always be something to inconvenience us or distract us or whatever and in the midst of the difficulties, we have a choice. We can get frustrated and whine about whatever is “afflicting” us at the moment or we can look at our situation and say “What can I do with what I have, right now?” Making the right choices in those days that look less than ideal can actually allow us to accomplish great things.
Everything we face in life involves a choice. Oh we may not get to choose what happens, but we can choose how we react to what happens.
Choose well!
