STARTFINISH COVERIdeas (in and of themselves) are completely useless. I can’t tell you how many times I have heard someone look at the latest greatest invention, design, product, etc. and say, “I thought of that idea years ago.” It’s almost as if they feel robbed. Sometimes the person saying it has even been me, so I am going to have to start our relationship with a little tough love. Your idea is nothing. It’s a thought, and in this case, it’s not the thought that counts, not even a little bit. The difference between you and me and the person that is profiting off the idea comes down to one thing: The person who took “your idea” to market, took your idea to market. They developed it. They did the work and they shared that work with the world. We don’t need to envy them, we need to emulate them.

Essentially they took the three steps we all need to take. They did three of the four things that we will outline in this book. They got the idea and then they got to work. They started. They got the project off the ground, they got the ball rolling.

From there, they finished the project. They did their homework, they got the help they needed and they persevered. They did the design, they wrote the book, they brought the idea from concept to completion. What was once a nebulous thought, an idea, is now a tangible object. They took the invisible and made it visible. They made it real. They made it something that can be shared, passed around, transmitted, seen, heard and touched. Which brings us to the third and most important step.

They “shipped” it. They shared it with the world. Starting is important, finishing is more important, but this step is the most important of all. Letting people know your creation exists, getting the word out. maybe even selling your creation. Without this step, your creation is little more than an idea. To be ultimately viable, your creation has to be shared.

The final step in the process is repeat. Once you’ve done the process. It’s time to take your next idea and do it again.

Don’t bother being an idea person, be a person of action. Implement your ideas and/or surround yourself with people who can help you to do the things you’re thinking of doing. Without wanting to sound too melodramatic, if you are looking for the way to make your dreams come true, this process will get you there.

This is brilliant, dude. You are an inspiration!!! Thanks for “shipping” your finished product. Your writing stretches my mindset exactly where I need it. 🙂
