Our world is a mess. Every time I think we have hit bottom, we go further down. I expect this from the world. I’ve learned not to be surprised when people who don’t follow God act like it. What I find alarming, is when the church won’t follow God’s Word either. I’ve heard of pastors losing their congregations because of no wrong doing other than preaching the God’s Word. We seem to be under a deception. For some reason some church people seem to think that pastors are their employees, to be hired and fired at will based on whether or not the pastor takes the congregation where they want to go. Nothing could be further from the truth. Rather pastors are people called by God to lead the church where God wants it to go. Whether or not we like it, is irrelevant. It reminds me of 2 Timothy 4:3. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. Here are two illustrations I designed to illustrate this idea.
