I spoke at a church on Sunday night. It went really well. Afterwards a man was sharing something related to my testimony that he learned in life. He said he learned, “You have a choice, you can be better or you can be bitter.” It wasn’t like I hadn’t heard it before, but for some reason it stuck with me. Yesterday, I was put to the test and as I was, those words reverberated in my mind. “You can be better or you can be bitter…”

Why do I share this? First because we need to be sure to listen to people. You never know when God might choose to have someone speak something into your life that you will need. Second, this creative life can be filled with disappointments-people don’t like your work or ideas-you lose out on opportunities-people don’t cooperate and on and on and it’s in those moments that we face that same choice. Bitter or better.

Today, I choose to be better. How about you? God is good.
James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
