As many of you know, I spend a lot of my ministry as a performance (or speed) painter. Basically I’m an artist who paints very large painting very quickly (12 minutes or less). The guy widely regarded as the inventor of this art form was an artist named Denny Dent. He was brilliant and he said something with which I could not agree more.

It is not what you do but how you do it that makes you an artist.

The server that brings you your meal might be an artist, so might a police officer, a teacher, an office worker, and on and on. Anyone can be an artist simply by bringing their very best to whatever it is they do. Their best skills, their best creativity, taking responsibility for being their very best… What’s what makes an artist!

The Bible says it this way: Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank. Proverbs 22:29

Whatever you do, give it your best. Be an artist to the glory of God.

Speaking of artists, here is Denny Dent.
