A few days ago I posted what I thought our response should be to controversial art. This video is the story of a young pastor who lived it out. It”s a little long but watching it til the end will give you a real blessing. Please check this out and spread it around. This is a true image of what it means to speak the truth in love and the impact it can have in a world where love can be hard to find. It’s not my own work so I can ask this without hesitation or fear of self promotion… Please, please, please take this video viral.

We often talk about how to deal with people with whom we disagree. While others protested and attacked, this guy shared the Gospel and it made all the difference.

This is a recording of the message I gave at the Atlantic Northeast District Church of the Brethren District Conference mixed with my power point slides. The message is about sin, God’s love and grace and hope for the future all found in the Gospel of Christ. The theme of the conference was The Saving Gospel and the Serving Gospel Perfect Together. It’s all about speaking the truth in love.

Hopefully by now you know AMOK is about more than just art. Sure art is the tool but AMOK is about pointing people to Jesus. A big part of that depends on how we communicate the message of the Gospel. Paul gave us a great guideline on how to do that, “speak the truth in love.”

Usually we are good at one of the other, We speak the truth with out love which leaves people feeling angry, bitter or condemned, or we water down the truth in an effort to be loved. Neither is correct. because if we don’t share the truth of the Gospel there is no real love in us because we leave people stuck in the very things Jesus died to free us from. They may feel like we are nice, and may even feel better about themselves, but at the end of the day they are without the hope that sets them free. The true key is the truth spoken in love. That is what sets us free.
