This is another way to do the reverse painting I showed earlier. The artist is kind enough to provide a tutorial type video, so you cfan really see how it’s done. This is amazing stuff.

Painting Technique: VOKA Mona Lisa

Every once in a while I like to post a video of an artist at work just so you can see technique. This artist calls his technique Spontaneous Realism. I’m not sure what that means exactly (I know what the words mean, just not how it applies to the art.) I love his layering of color. He doesn’t just use the expected colors. It’s sort of the every crayon in the box thing I love so much. The results in my opinion are spectacular. It takes guts for any artist to tackle an iconic piece like the Mona Lisa. VOKA does a great job. Let his technique inspire you to pick up your “brushes” and create.
You Are Talented…

I’m reading the book You Are Talented by Patrick Kavanaugh. It is so good to find a kindred spirit. The book talks about discovering, perfecting and using your unique abilities to the glory of God. Today’s passage was too good not to share. It talks about how to make decisions with “where you’re headed” in mind. This book is full of great stuff and it’s available on Amazon.
Also a quick prayer request. At the end of the month I will be the speaker (and of course artist) at an event called Youth Explosion in Terre Haute Indiana at Saints Home Church of God in Christ. I would really appreciate your prayers that God would use me and touch the lives of many young people. I can’t wait for this event.
Water to Wine

This is another piece in my series for my denomination’s annual conference. It’s based on Jon 2:1-12 Jesus first public miracle at the wedding at Cana, Turning water into wine. It brought about some thoughts:
Jesus took that which was ordinary and made it extraordinary. He took that which was common and made it uncommon. He took that which was good and made it far better.
But it goes beyond that. Jesus cares about the small things and large things and He is willing to intervene. He honored His mother, He met a need. He cared. Jesus is concerned about us and cares about every aspect of our lives. He can take the common ordinary things we have to offer, even the things we don’t think are worth mentioning and if we will place them into His hands He can turn them around and make them extraordinary.
How did this miracle all take place? There was one thing that had to happen. Mary told the servants at the wedding what I think the Scripture says to us. “Do whatever He tells you.” If He can make fantastic wine out of ordinary water, how much more can He make of you?

The folks over at IllustrationFriday.com posted their challenge for the week and the word to illustrate was “Toy.” I’ve been wanting to produce a toy for some time based on my New Creaturez concept for quite some time, so I decided this week I would design the prototype of it in response to the challenge. This is what I came up with.
