I just finished reading Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World Reading it may be too weak a word. More correct would be devoured or perhaps absorbed. This book is exactly what I need to advance this ministry and get the message out to a much wider audience, so I can help a lot more people.
I can’t say enough great things about this amazing book. The subtitle is A Step-By-Step Guide for Anyone with Something to Say or Sell. In Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World Hyatt, takes the reader through everything from creating your product through perfecting it and giving it the “WOW Factor” through building your internet home base, work through social media and more. It’s all about letting people know what you’re doing so they can get onboard and help spread the word.
Some may think this is a little too “businessy” and not spiritual, here’s how I see it. I’ve been entrusted with a gift and a message. Good stewardship says I should work as effectively as possible and be as faithful as possible. When it comes to a message the more people who know about it the better. After all, as Seth Godin said, “Ideas that spread win.” To me building a platform is all about spreading the ideas I have been given. Michael Hyatt is the former CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishing and has built a huge platform through such tools as his blog at MichaelHyatt.com. He’s an expert in this stuff and he has shared generously. I can’t wait to put this information to work so I’m not going to.
My plan is, now that I have finished reading, to go back through the book, put all the steps to work and see what happens to my platform. I’d love to invite you along for the ride. Pick up Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World and give it a try. I plan on blogging parts of the journey to give you a taste and to share the results when I am done. I’m not going to give you enough to step on Hyatt’s copyright, because frankly I couldn’t do this great book justice. It’s one you need to read for yourself. Get your copy and join the conversation.
