What a Great Evening… (and a youth ministry resource you can use!)

I had a great evening last night. I took my wife out to dinner, then she surprised me by taking me some place to look at something for AMOKArts that proved once again that she is my greatest supporter and believes in me more than I do sometimes. Then I was off to spend the night at a lock in with about 200 Jr. High Youth. I had a great time. I was in charge of the art and craft area. I set it up as an art studio/gallery where the students could take a journey down the Romans Road using six of my painting videos with a hands on project for each. If you’d like to use the videos with your group, they may be found here. http://www.amokarts.com/artjam.html

  1. Dear Amokarts,
On a similar note,, As a student pastor, I have to confess that much of my time in the past was devoted to looking for youth ministry resources. Sometimes they can be hard to find. Usually though I just wanted to make sure I found the right materials and the best deal. This is not completely bad. Taking time to find the right materials for your ministry and making sure you get a good deal on them is very wise. The problem comes in though when finding materials becomes our first priority and monopolizes all of our time. Yes, the materials we use will always be a part of your ministry, but there are so many things that are for more important in our lives as student pastors than youth ministry resources.
    Cheers

This is absolutely true. The most important thing is our personal relationship with God and bringing students to Jesus. This includes all the relational things we get to do. Part of what I love about developing my own resources is that it allows me to work from the needs of the people to whom I minister and it takes me deeper into the topic not to mention it really allows me to go deep with God. I am really aware that there are a lot of creative artistic students out there and precious few resources that connect to their God-given giftings. My goal in developing these resources is to help leaders who don’t have an artistic inclination (as well as those who do) to give these students a life changing outlet to discover how God can use what He made them to be. My life was radically transformed when a pastor did that for me.
      Thanks for joining the conversation,
      God bless,
      Dave
