I am amazed and humbled every time I hear this speech. First of all because it makes me realize I am not one hundred percent correct. Occasionally people carrying signs can make a difference, but mainly because it reminds me of the power of words, a God given vision and convictions. It reminds me that one man speaking truth and casting vision can change the world. Telling a better story, painting better picture can make a better reality.

Dr. King saw the way things were. All these years later, we may not get it, especially those of us of the caucasian persuasion, but understand this, the reason we don’t get it is because Dr. King’s dream is coming true. We still have a way to go, but one thing is for sure, the world has changed.

You see Dr. King, saw what was wrong in the world. Lot’s of people could and lots of people did. Seeing what’s wrong is easy. What differentiates him from most of us is he had a God-given vision of what could be, no, what should be, no, what must be. I have very little doubt that others could see that too, but Dr. King wasn’t done. He saw the vision and he told the story. He cast the vision. He painted a picture of a better world on people’s hearts and minds. See it’s not enough to have a vision. You need to help others to see it too. Look at the crowd at the monument. It’s obvious people were seeing something greater than what was. King made them believe they could change the world. A vision cast is a vision shared and a vision shared is a vision headed to reality. Dr. King called us all to something better. Dr. King pointed us to a brighter horizon and said, “let’s go.” People thought that if they were to kill him that the dream would be silenced, and they did their worst, but it was too late. The vision was cast and the vision spread. When you keep your dream to yourself, it dies with you, but when you cast it to the masses, it lives in hearts and minds who will fight to see it become reality.

Dr. King passed away, taken by an assassin’s bullet, but his dream lives.

What is your dream? What do you see in the world that needs to change? What do you see that makes you think, “someone should do something about that?” That “someone” is you. Seeing the problem is not enough. Ask God for a vision, for a dream and share it, cast it to the masses, to all who will receive it. Share it and live it and move together to reality.

What is your dream? Dr. King shows us they do come true.

Dream big, God dreams and follow Him to a brighter reality. You can make a difference.
