IllustrationFriday.com Challenge/Scattered

Today’s IllustrationFriday.com challenge was a perfect one for me because I often feel scattered. I have so many things going through my mind at one time, so many ideas. While as an artist, I throve on ideas there are times whereI get overwhelmed and start to wonder if I’ll ever get them done. My mind starts to feel a little bit like my illustration, scattered.

What can I do about it? Well a couple of things. The first being the easiest, write it down somewhere where you can find it later. There’s nothing wrong with multitasking, but there is something incredibly wrong with not finishing what we start. Writing things down for later ensures that no idea is wasted. That’s especially important for those of us who seek divine inspiration. After you have recorded the idea be faithful and do what you can do to create what you can and give it your best. We don’t need to live with the pressure we sometimes put ourselves under. In the Bible, Jesus says to us, “Come to me you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” None of us have to live scattered.

Consider this, the most creative mind in the history of the universe (for that matter, the Creator of the universe) used stories and images as a powerful teaching tool. Maybe we are on the right track.

Whether you love classical music or can’t stand it, you need to listen to this video. Benjamin Zander from the Ted Conference speaks about so much more than music. Anyone who wants to be an artist or a leader should check this out.

Here’s what The Ted site said about him. “Benjamin Zander has two infectious passions: classical music, and helping us all realize our untapped love for it — and by extension, our untapped love for all new possibilities, new experiences, new connections.”

If you don’t have the time for the long version (which you should) at least check out the main point.
