The maker of my favorite computers and one ofte people responsible for the fact that we have computers and iPads and IPods and iPhones and so much else. Anyone who feels that one person cannot make a difference should look at what Steve Jobs started in his garage and then keep going. Press on and remember this quote:

Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do. ~S. Jobs

I believe you can do it. Press on

Born to Be Weird

Posted: October 6, 2011 in Uncategorized

I love it when really smart people say things I’ve been saying all along. I’ve been reading Seth Godin’s book We Are All Weird. No He’s not championing being weird for weird’s sake and no, I am not calling you weird, loyal reader. What we are saying is that each of us was created unique with different gifts and talents but our whole system seems to be set up to create compliant factory workers and the only way to really do that is to push people away from the very things that make them special. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the educational system. Our economy has gone from manufacturing to creative, creativity is the future of our economy and yet when things get economically tight what is the first thing to be cut? The Arts. The very thing that will prepare us for our future, is the very thing we want to squelch.
Godin proposes a unique fix that I think is worth considering. Check out the video and see if you agree.

You know God made us all different for a reason. He gifted you the way He gifted you for a reason. You need to develop that gift and put it to use for God’s glory and your neighbor’s good. Each of us doing what we were created to do and doing it with others also being what they were created to be will impact the world in ways we are only beginning to imagine. That’s what my presentation Be the Body is all about. I’d love to come to your church and talk to you about it. Contact me at AMOKArts@aol.com

Here’s the same thing said in a more humorous way:
