IllustrationFriday.com Challenge Entry: SWEPT

IllustrationFriday.com Challenge Entry: SWEPT

The challenge for the week is to illustrate the word, “swept.” First I thought of brooms, then I thought of witches on brooms, then vacuum cleaners and none of those was terribly appealing. Finally the sports reference came to mind. When two teams play a series of games and one team wins them all, it’s called a sweep, the losing team is said to have been swept.

Did you ever find yourself in a no win situation? Did you ever feel like you’ve been swept in the game of life? The good news is you haven’t, so persevere. God has said He will never leave nor forsake us. Stick with God, sooner of later we win because God has already won!

#Trust30 Divine Idea

The Challenge:
Imitation is Suicide. Insist on yourself; never imitate. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Write down in which areas of your life you have to overcome these suicidal tendencies of imitation, and how you can transform them into a newborn you – one that doesn’t hide its uniqueness, but thrives on it. There is a “divine idea which each of us represents” – which is yours?

My Response:
Interestingly enough I believe I AM a divine idea. Relax, you’re one too. I believe we were all created by God on purpose, for a purpose. Knowing that, I intend to live on purpose. Because of this imitation is fruitless. When I imitate you, I cease to be what I was created to be and try to become something I was never created to be. I end up in futile comparison which will leave me either prideful or defeated, off task and feeling empty. Trying to be you is a waste of precious time for me. I need to be me. This is also true of you. So I work to be a better artist, speaker, writer, husband, father, comparing myself to no one but the man I was yesterday and the Christ into whose likeness I am supposed to be growing. My divine idea is to try to line up with His divine idea for me.

Yep he’s a follower of Christ. Here’s his story.

Now remind me again, why can’t God use what you do?
Live out your faith in every area of your life.
