IllustrationFriday.com challenge entry "Duet"

Welcome to the AMOKArts Tribe blog. This is a blog where I share images, videos, thoughts and ideas for people who want to use their creative gifts to make art, serve God and serve others. If that interests you please subscribe. Now on to the challenge.

On May 1, I will be speaking and painting at a large church on the topic of heaven. I was hoping to do a multimedia presentation based on this idea.

So I post this challenge. I’d like to see your artistic image of heaven!

This isn’t a preachy thing where I will bombard you with a bunch of stuff. Just trying to get some images of how people see heaven. You can send the link to your image to amokarts@aol.com Please keep it clean.

Hey Dave! I have been on a quest to serve God and glorify Him in my work. Like your “Duet” :o ) I’ll be giving your challenge a whirl….but I have to warn you, my style is geared toward kids so it may not be quite what you are looking for. Also Dave, can I recommend a book? I just finished it last week. It is called Imagine That. “Discovering your unique role as a Christian artist.” Fantastic book on the subject of glorifying God.

Thanks Jack you’re about the third person to recommend that book. I will now need to move it to the front burner.
Tell me more about what you do!
      God bless,
      Dave

Hey Dave, I illustrate children’s books. I began about 2 1/2 years ago .The publishing company I work for is Guardian Angel Publishing. They are a small Christian company in St. Louis. I also am blogging through the Bible on a blog called Mr. BibleHead at mrbiblehead.blogspot.com
It is for kids. I have a lot of my illustrations accompanying the stories. I am working on Joseph in Genesis right now.

    Re: Great Minds…
thanks for commenting on my illustration.
I’ve been meaning to start doing that weekly for some time now, but hadn’t felt motivated get it in gear until this past week.

Not that I had the mind, mind you, as I’m currently in my first year as a High School Art Teacher. I changed careers a few years ago, after 27 years as a Graphic Designer.

The other point I wanted to make about “Great Minds,” though, is that I love the Lord as well. And in fact, just two weekends ago did my first performance piece, wherein I drew a cartoon on stage while the pastor did his sermon on Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

If i get an opportunity I’ll post it on one of my other blog sites and send you the link. I also had someone at the church videotape the process, though it’s difficult to see. unfortunately the video, even as a compressed .mov, is 200+ megabytes.

If you have any interest in seeing it, and listening to that portion of the sermon, I can ftp it to you via yousendit.com

Lord bless you in your journeys.
Nice to know there are other Christian Cartoonists out there.

    Jay
